Why are incandescent flashlites still being sold?
I bought a brand-new, 14 diode, LED flashlight for 6 dollars — with tax!
It outshines most regular flashlights and requires only three AAA batteries!
From experience with other LED lights, they seem to last a very long time on a charge — far longer than incandescent bulbed flashlights.
Is there any reason why those (seemingly antiquated) incand. flashlights are still needed? How many times do you remember banging the old style luminaires with a fist, trying somehow to coax the last few electrons to light the dying flashlite? Thank goodness for LED technology. What do you say? Have you rid of the old flashlights?
I love LED flashlights, but most incandescents have a longer ‘throw’, meaning the beam travels farther. Sure, you can light up the room or fart around in the yard with an LED, but for needing to see something at a bit of a distance, incandescents are still better- think of the searchlights on a cop car, or the flashlights they use; there’s a reason they don’t use LEDs. Plus LEDs are still pretty new in this application- old habits die hard. And the good, powerful LEDs like the Lumeon diodes are still quite expensive.
