How can you stain a bar top with 2 different color stains without bleeding ?
I want to stain my bar top with a darker color stain as a 4 inch border and have the rest of the bar be a lighter color stain. In the middle I want to put the initial of my last name in the darker stain. Any ideas how to best do this without stain bleeding through. If I use painters tape will it rip up some of the stain that I am covering with it? Thanks.
stuckinthemud has the answer. You have to cut the wood grain to stop the bleeding. Tape will not work.
Stain will fallow the wood grain under the tape. The same goes for a ploy coat on the one color first color.
even your first color will bleed into an irregular line as you stain.
