good fishing poles and reels?
i want to get a good rod and reel to go fishing with. before i had just been using a shake-spear rod and reel but now i want an upgrade. i want a rod and reel that can handle 6-12 pound line. a 6-7 foot pole. also i want to get some better line i have just been using the berkley trilene xl from like walmart. my price range for the rod is 40-60 dollors and for the reel 50-100 dollors. and the line can only cost up to like 15 dollors. so in all all i want to spend is at most is $150. 10 points best answer. thanks

you should be able to get a combo, rod and reel together, in those sizes/weights for $60 or less.
walmart is actually a good place to shop for them, especially the super center walmarts. they tend to have all the good name brands, shakespeare, ugly stick, shimano, dawia, and they dont tend to have the mark up fishing speciality stores have.
sporting stores, like sports authority, will also have what you want at around the same prices.
for most bass i usually find 10 lb test is plenty. between the drag and the fact that a 10 lber is usually a big bass, thats more then enough. for striper which can get much larger i use 15 lb test.
i’ve pulled a 24 lber in on 12 lb test before. its kinda of more fun that way, you have to tire the fish out and cant just drag it in so you really have to fight the fish.
berkely trilene line, i use it when i am not using lead core. good line, takes a hard tug to actually snap it. steady gentle pressure the trilene xl line can pull some amazing large and heavy items up.
