What products made from carbon black? What carbon black can do?
I produced carbon black about 200 tonnes per month. Wanted to export it to India’s company. Was thinking to produce end product on our own. We heard it can produce ink toner, tarmac, etc. but if we could find the new technology to produce something higher margin it could be better.
You produce 1/2 million lbs of carbon black per month? 6 million lbs per year? that’s a fairly good sized carbon black plant.
Carbon black is used to reinforce rubber for tires. That is by far the biggest market. It is also used as the pigment in black inks. particularly BLK-7.
It’s a bit difficult to find new high value applications because carbon black is a commodity chemical and sells for about $0.30 / lb on the open market. Less to large customers. anybody can by it right? make there own specialty chemicals.
You also have competition. All of the major carbon black manufacturers have R&D efforts to develop new products and new applications. And those guys are making orders of magnitude more carbon black than you. And have a lot of $$ to invest in R&D.

2) what is your packaging capability?
3) what is your capablity for surface treatments?
4) what other materials besides carbon black can you make?
