How to soothe black fly bites?
I got attacked by black flies when I went up north. I have like 8 bites on my neck, and want to know how I can make them stop itching!
For starters, try applying cool/cold/ice packs. Next, trial some calamine lotion. If little to no relief, next step would likely be adding an oral antihistamine, such as cetirizine (Zyrtec), hydroxyzine (Vistaril) or diphenhydramine (Benadryl) – all available OTC; however, watch out for sleepiness, especially w/ the last two. If you’re still suffering, consider a trip to the doctor – you may be having a hypersensitivity reaction or possibly a super-imposed infection or both, for which you may need additional and/or different treatment/medication.
