What is the energy of a single photon of blue light having a wavelength of 4.8×10 ^-7 m/cycle?

how would i calculate this? i know i have to use Planck’s equation… answer needs to be in joules. please help!

E = h*c/lambda

wavelength = 4.8×10^(-7) m
c = 3×10^8 m/s
h = 6.63×10^(−34) J.s

just plug in the numbers and solve for E.

look at the units of the things you are multiplying together.
(J.s)*(m/s)/m -> see how the seconds and meters cancel?
so, the result will be in Joules.

-> 4.14×10^(-19) J

or 2.58 eV

cheers
