Should I buy this gun?

I was offered a .300 win mag Ruger M77 in great shape with a custom muzzle brake, a bushnell elite scope, in nearly perfect condition with very little wear on it, been shot about 20 times. The guy wants 350 for it. Should I buy it?

Im more of a milsurp guy, and I need a good hunting rifle so I dont tear up my collectibles.
The stock is wood
I have fired it before, the seller is a family member. It shoots fine.

$350 is a fine price for a used M77. My only comments would be that:

A) Ruger M77′s don’t have a reputation for great accuracy. Plenty good enough for hunting, but they’re not considered tack drivers. That may or may not matter to you. My dad has one in .270 that does about 2″ groups at 100 yards. My Savage .30-06 is the most accurate factory rifle I own (I have a custom built .257 Roberts that’s a lil better), and it’ll shot 0.5″ groups at 100 yards.

B) .300 Win Mag is a bit heavy for deer. Don’t get me wrong it’ll knock dead as a stone, but the impact will turn a lot of meat around the impact to mush. IMHO, get something a bit lighter if you want a deer rifle. .25-06, .257 Roberts, 6.5×55 Swede, .260 Remington, 7mm-08, etc. All good deer rounds that won’t be quite as harsh on the deer (or your shoulder).
