Bushnell Trophy

Bushnell Trophy
.22LR vs .22WMR whats your opinion about these two rounds?

I have both rounds already but I just wanted some opinions on what you guys think about them. As for what I have found .22WMR is way more accurate out to 200 yards .22lr is all over the place at 200 yards. .22WMR has a nicer sound than .22LR (doesn’t matter but just saying) and I have also found that .22WMR is not affected by wind like .22LR is and drop off is also not as bad. But I like .22lr if Im shooting at 50 to 75 yards then I can still get good groups but, with .22WMR I can get groups the size of a penny at 100yards and about 2inch groups at 200 yards. I could do better but I’m using a Bushnell Trophy XLT and its 3-9×40 and the target looks real small at 200 yards.
yes I did leave the cost out .22lr is cheap to shoot but you can get CCI .22WMR maxi-mag for 10.95 for 50 rounds not to bad.
Kelly M people like you should not be allowed to answer questions. That ranks at number one for dumb answers.
Mr.357 you can’t compare the .22WMR to a .223 LOL

I own a .22lr, and it is the greatest and most inexpensive gun on God’s green Earth for plinking, and close range hunting. Your problem with inaccuracy at ranges, is that a .22lr starts off supersonic, and falls to subsonic after 100 yards. The force of the shockwave throws the bullet off, and causes it to tumble badly. So, the .22lr is useless past 100 yards, unless you are using subsonic rounds. At 200 yards though, a .22lr subsonic round would probably not kill anything, but just mildly wound it. A .22WMR on the other hand, stays super-sonic much longer, allowing for shots in excess of 100 yards, and potentially up to 300 on small game. If you live in the woods like me, a .22lr is great because I rarely take a long range shot. If you live in a place with many open spaces, a .22WMR is much more effective. I have a friend with a .22 Magnum, bolt-action, and that thing is deadly accurate, with a lot of killing power.
