What’s the best lure for this lake?
I haven’t had any luck catching any decent fish like bass or catfish because i’ve used just regular worms on a hook my whole life so i tend to keep pulling out bluegills or big shad. So far I’ve tried small plastic minnows and a chartreuse spinnerbait with no luck.
It’s a branch of a 88 mile lake here in NC. The shoreline is rocky and that’s where most of the baitfish swim around at, sometimes largemouths float by there to eat. The water is clear and 66 degrees.
No best lure. What works this week may not work next week. If you see the fish coming to feed on the shad and minnows a good bet will be some kind of shad imitation. Rattle traps, white or shad colored spinnerbaits, and zoom flukes are good for these times. Just experiment with all different baits, sizes, colors, retrieves, and techniques. You’ll eventually find what there wanting. Also dont be afraid to ask people you see fishing for advice. The more you learn from experienced people the better off your going to be.
