How do you obtain the color yellow from the primary colors: red, green, and blue?
On any video display, there are three primary colors used: red, green, and blue. How do you obtain the yellow? From what I was taught, the 3 primary colors were red, blue, and yellow. In which case, red+blue=violet, red+yellow=orange, yellow+blue=green. If red and green are mixed they make a dark, almost black color because they are complementary to each other. This occurs also when blue+orange=dark color and violet+yellow=dark color. So how is yellow made from just using red, green, and blue?
Like everyone says, red, green, and blue are not primary colors. It is the color model used for things like tv, computers monitors, and the like. You don’t use this for paint and other mediums
The scale of values is from 0 to 255. You can get a bright yellow with Red set to 255, green set to 234, and blue set to 0. If you set Red, Green, Blue to 0, you get black. If you set them all to 255, you get white.
This is useful when you’re making colors for graphics to be used on a website using a program like Photoshop. This isn’t useful if you’re mixing paints.
