Today’s Hunting Bows Are Approaching The Speed Limit
The 2010 PSE X-force series is considered one of the fastest hunting bows today. Moreover, its speed has undergone IBO measurement tests and its rated speed is in accordance with that standard. In this series, two things that were considered impossible have been achieved. One is the combination of speed with precision and the other is the manufacture of speed bows that are quiet and jolt-free.
The PSE X-Force Vendetta XL of today’s hunting bows
The slowest in the series is the PSE X-Force Vendetta XL. Among the PSE models, this one is specifically constructed for speed. Its fps (feet per second) rating is 328. Although fast bows have earned the reputation of being rough to draw out, the Vendetta presents no difficulty to the hunter when drawn back and down. If the user didn’t know it to be a Vendetta, he could be deceived into thinking that it was not a speed bow.
The Vendetta performs quietly and doesn’t jump back into place when released. Because the aim of the archer is undisturbed, the Vendetta is capable of maintaining the arrow in the original trajectory desired by the archer. This is a rare combination of speed and precision that was considered impossible before the PSE series hit the market.
PSE X-Force Omen
Another one of the speed bows of PSE is the X-Force Omen. The gadget has a publicized speed of 366 fps. Similar to the Vendetta, it combines speed with silent performance and shock free releases. It is based on the double cam construction that is also used in the Vendetta. It bends backwards and downwards with complete ease and the user feels no shock when the bow rebounds into position.
A pair of past parallel limbs cushions the user from the jolt when the bow is released, vibrations are controlled by Vibracheck backstop cushions and the noise is checked by cable guards.
Today’s hunting bows – PSE X-Force DreamSeason
Another one of today’s hunting bows made for speed is the PSE X-Force Dream Season. It has an fps of 356. Although not the top in speed rating the Dream Season has plenty of force packed into it. So much so that an archer will need specially made bulls-eyes to practice with the Dream Season. The model will simply drive its arrows through the normal bulls-eyes.
Its advertised speed seems to be pretty close to its actual speed because the Dream Season can propel arrows so fast that they just appear on the target, as it were, after the bow is released.
Will there ever be a speed limit for hunting bows
With the emergence of the PSE series, the claim that the speed rate of 400 fps can never be reached by today’s hunting bows, much less passed is beginning to look like a myth. Additionally, the belief that speed and accuracy can never go hand-in-hand in a hunting bow has been disproven. With the fastest PSE hunting bow rating at 366 fps, it won’t be long before the suggested ceiling rate of 400 fps will be reached..and surpassed.
