why is led lighting so expensive?
ok so im thinking of setting up a frag tank with led lighting and everything i found was so expensive. im very good with electronics so i just thought id make one and i see the drivers are like 50 bucks and the led’s are like cree leds are like 20-50 cents each. the total to make one would be like 80 when to buy it its 350??? why is it so expensive to buy a real one?
Because LEDs are new technology for the aquarium industry, and because they are so energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing, businesses are going to bank on them as much as possible. They have done the research to gauge demand, and can thus charge a high price for such lighting.
