Why do you think hunters go out, even when there haven’t been any ducks, geese, turkey, deer, etc?
I was just wondering why we do it. I am a hunter myself and do it all the time. Dont get cocky.
Because harvesting an animal is not the only reason we go out. Yes, we DO hunt for meat on the table, and in the freezer, but we also go out just to admire and enjoy the land that God gave us. (and of course there is always the chance that an animal may choose to make itself known even when we are not really looking for it). I can’t tell you how many “hunting” trips I have spent just sitting on top of a mountain with a view that runs all the way into next week, and just sat and watched the birds flying, the animals moving in the valley below me, some other hunter stalking an animal, or even better yet, an inexperienced hunter “hunting” while all but oblivious to the game he is spooking and that we can see sneaking away, or around him, that he isn’t even aware of.
Sometimes, it’s just plain “therapy” that helps us get rid of stress, and organize our thoughts and plans, and sadly, sometimes we use it as a way to pay homage to a lost friend or loved one.
shoot safe, and Merry Christmas
