Double Taper

Double Taper
What is a taper hair clipper?

I need to buy a set of electric hair clippers and am interested in one by Wahl but its called a taper hair clippers. Would this be the same as a standard pair for shaving hair to no 1 ie buzz cut?

It may be a silly question but I just need to double check, I wouldnt want to waste £35 on something if it will be no use to me

Thanks for your help

A taper clipper is a clipper that has a taper lever. The taper lever adjusts the length of the cut. The stated lengths of clipper guards are with the taper lever in the short cutting position. Standard taper clippers with no clipper guard attached adjust between a #000 blade(0.5mm) and a #1 blade(2.4mm.) Fade clippers adjust between a #00000 blade(0.2mm) and a #000 blade(0.5mm) with no clipper guard attached. Most home clippers are taper clippers. The most popular professional taper clipper in the US is the Andis Improved Master. Cutting hair all over the head at #1 guard(3.0mm) length = #1A blade length is not usually executed by a barber in the states with a taper clipper but with a rotary clipper with a #1A blade attached. A rotary clipper takes interchangeable blades that cut to the stated length and does not have a taper lever. Cutting at #1, #1.5 and #2 clipper guard length can often result in an uneven appearing hair surface as the skin can gather and feed between the widely spaced teeth of the clipper guard, and then be closer to the cutting blades. This typically happens with looser scalps and when amateurs place force on the clippers. The teeth of a blade are closely spaced and the skin cannot gather between the teeth. Another issue is that with many taper clippers the taper lever can easily move out of position changing the length of the cut. The Andis Improved Master has notched settings that hold the lever in place.
