Ok I had him in with another african cichlid that would nip at him and his fins look pretty bad so I was going to move him to a 5 gallon tank until he got a bit bigger then when I finally got him in the net he just stoped moving put back in and sunk to the bottom I moved him to the 5 gallon and he sunk to the bottom and he is still moving his gills and eyes and he will swim a very short distance but upside down please help

Usually when fish swim upside down it is due to there gills not releasing water, and when they use the air in the water the water is still inside of them. Right now, if it is not too late firmly grab him around the body, (larger part of the body).

As you do so do not push on his gills make sure they can allow water to go through them. To get water to go through the gills is your job simply drift him around the tank, hold on to him and make sure his mouth is open. This will start the cycle of water entering through the gills again. keep moving him around the tank. If this does not get him moving within 20 minutes then it is most likely to late. Just make sure to release him if he get a good kick off with his fins so he can do it on his own. Make sure his belly is not up while moving him around the tank.

I hope this helps, I would hate for you to lose your fish.
