Giro Atmos Helmet is Not All That Jazz
Although Atmos helmet is cheaper than any other product models of Giro with high technology features, there are still few disadvantages that Atmos present despite its features of In-Mold Technology, Wind Tunnel technology, and the Roc Loc system. The cyclists should remember that it is not only about spending less money on helmet, but most importantly, it is about the effectiveness of the helmet to provide safety and comfort. It is very important to take choosing best helmet seriously before spending too much money on buying one over and over.
Some cyclists say that the Giro Atmos helmet is bulkier than other leading (and a bit expensive) models like Ionos and Prolight. They feel like the Atmos looks bigger than those other Giro products.
They say that the Atmos is not very effective in giving comfort compared to other models. It also does not fit most heads well especially on the forehead part or on the front lining part of the helmet. It is like the Atmos is only tested and designed to one person’s head only. It feels like the helmet only fits one size and type of head.
They also say that the Atmos helmet is not able to provide ventilation well despite its 26 vents to work as part of the Wind Tunnel technology of Giro. Other Giro helmet models, even with fewer vents installed in them, are able to provide more airflow than the Atmos helmet.
Also, due to the several vents installed in Atmos, there is a high occurrence of wind noise when cyclists speed up and go against the wind. Wind noise may create discomfort to the cyclists and may affect their safe riding.
The Atmos helmet is basically ideal to use only during easy cycling, minor road riding, and for everyday light riding. It is not advisable to use Atmos helmet during mountain biking and other dangerous cycling sports. The Atmos helmet is only suitable to use with warm weather and not with cold weather since it is not equipped with a winter kit unlike the Ionos helmet.
You have to remember that the efficiency of each helmet depends on the user. Other may say that Atmos is not cost-effective but others may say that it is really worth the penny. When buying a helmet, it is always advisable to look for reviews and opinions of other cyclists who have used different kinds and brands of cycling helmets.
It is important that after looking for helmets based on the reviews you have found, you have to try the actual helmet first before deciding what to buy. You have to make sure that the helmet you buy is the one that really saves you a lot of money but provides you safety and comfort all the same.
