Glass Breaker

Glass Breaker
Microwave went dead after short buzzing sound!?

My over-the-range microwave died.
I was heating a glass of milk, and the microwave had only been running for 3 to 5 seconds when suddenly it made a loud buzzing sound for half a second and then the whole unit shut off.

Now there is no light, no clock, no range fan…no power whatsoever! The entire unit is unresponsive to button pushing.

There was no metal in the microwave. The circuit breaker has been checked. There is no way it got unplugged because the whole thing is installed into the wall. I have looked in the manual for solutions, but none of them apply to my problem. A service person charges $65 just to come out to the house to take a look.

What else can I try?

If this microwave is installed in the wall it isn’t a cheap one. I have worked on my own microwave and will tell you there isn’t a lot to be done. It would take a lot of work to remove your microwave and check it out. My advise is to buy a new one. Either one that will sit on your counter or one to replace the wall mounted one. Which ever you choose will be cheaper than a repairman.
