whats more popular with disc golf discs?
Is INNOVA better or Discraft discs, or is there a better one out there. i’m still new at finding the right discs for me, but mostly looking for a long drive?
Both are good manufacturers, but in my opinion, Discraft is by far the better producer. I own about 15 discs from both companies, and my discraft discs are the ones that I regularly throw.
When someone gets into disc golf, they always want to just drive far. It is far more important to throw straight and with control. You will become a much better disc golfer if you learn control before distance. Sometimes, and most times, throwing with a straight disc will give you more distance than a disc designed for distance. Also, lighter weights (150-165g) will give you more distance, because you are probably not throwing with a lot of power, being new to the sport. Lighter weights=more glide=more distance.
Straight Discraft discs: Pro-D Cyclone, Elite X XS, Pro-d Buzzz, Elite X XL
Straight Innova discs: DX Gazelle, DX Leopard, Star TL, DX Shark
All of these discs will give newer players added distance.
Another way to quickly lower scores, is by working on putting. It separates the pro’s from you and I. Make sure your putting with a putter.
