Help me find the answer of the green & yellow marbles?
Sam has 72 marbles. . Some are green and some are yellow. The number of green marbles is twelve more than five times the number of yellow marbles. Find the number of yellow marbles.
g = green
y = yellow
g+y=72
and
g=5y+12
Substitution (2nd equation in g of 1st equation)
5y+12+y=72
(add the y’s)
6y+12=72
(-12 on both sides)
6y=60
(divide by 6 on both sides)
y=10
10 yellow marbles
