gun stock creaking on break barrel air rifle?
on my break barrel air rifle the stock creaks ( the stock is made of walnut). when i reattach the main chamber and barrel. it creks when tightening the bolt from the bottom of the trigger guard. should this hapen?
All it means is that something is rubbing and shifting. If the air rifle still works fine, don’t worry too much about it. If you are concerned that the creaking may scare away things you’re hunting for, then you might want to take the stock off and look for signs of rubbing (a polished area or rough area where the stock is very close to or touching another part of the gun. You could either add a little grease to quiet the creaking, or sand the area down a bit to give a little clearance between the stock and whatever it’s rubbing against. Grease will stain the wood, so if you’re worried about that you probably want to go with sanding it. Don’t take off more material than necessary, just enough to solve the problem. Good luck!
