Halter Cob

Halter Cob
what size halter would my horse be?

he is a 15.3 hand percheron QH. He has a percheron nose for sure. big!
I am looking to buy a rope halter…the sizes are horse, cob, and draft…
Should I buy draft size?
thanks but the sizes are horse, cob, or draft…

It probably wouldn’t be the nose piece that would be too small, but the end tie. When you have a bigger headed horse, the end tab may not quite be long enough to tie a comfortable knot.
I have an appy mare that really stretches the limit on horse size, which is why I decided to make my own so I could make the end tie piece really long.

Here is what I would do: using a standard nylon web horse halter, see how it fits. If you can’t get the buckle done up or you are on the last hole, you will need draft size. Or borrow someone’s standard horse size rope halter and try it out.

If you opt for the draft size, and the nose piece is too large, no problem. Just retie the knot at the base where the lead snaps and make a longer loop, tightening the nose piece to fit. If the poll piece is way too big, again, you can shorten it by cutting it off, melting the end, and using a waxed string to rewrap it.
