My halter horse paces in his stall?
I have a hard time keeping weight on my halter horse. If I don’t keep him tied he paces. What other options do I have. I don’t want to keep him tied all the time. He gets worked 15 min per day 6 days per week and turned out in the round pen on Sunday to keep him happy.
He needs to be worked a lot more. lunge him for more like 20 of harder work, and ride him for much longer if you can. He needs more excersize to keep weight on him too. Exercise him often and he will put on muscle rather than fat, which will look much better in the ring.
if by “worked” you mean ridden, you can ride him for like 45 minutes. and I hope you mean walk/jog/lope, not just get on and walk on a trail. Your horse is bored. If you were stuck in one room all day, but got let out for only 15 minutes, wouldn’t you pace?
