Hole Head

Hole Head
How to treat Hole in Head disease?

Is that really all there is to it? O.o
I want to get to know all of the common diseases of the oscar before I keep it, but that sounds easy! lol

In addition to what Ryok and Kat said, one thing not mentioned as well is diet is a major contributor to this as well. That’s a big reason why feeder fish are a poor choice to feed an Oscar, though some hobbyists get enjoyment from seeing an Oscar chase the fish all over the tank, you aren’t doing any good for an Oscar using that.

I am not so sure that water quality is actually the driving factor of this though, but it certainly speeds up the spread and it taking hold in a fish if the nitrate levels start building up past 40 ppm, proper electrolyte levels are not maintained, and poor diet.

It’s good to know how to treat this if you see it, but what’s even better is this is so preventable by keeping a proper tank size, water changes as well as keeping good overall water chemistry and a proper diet, you are likely to never see this at all anyways.

Oscar Rocks aka David K, I know you mean well, but you didn’t write that post up. That’s plagarism, please list the site you took that from.

I’d make another suggestion since this is about the 5th question you’ve asked, to join a better forum too that deals specifically with cichlid care and such. The answers you’ve gotten for the most part, aren’t wrong, but you can get professional help in places like
