I had a question about my Mepps black fury?
I went out today and bought a Mepps black fury and a 1/2 ounce kastmaster inline spinner but I think it’s to big for the trout I’m going for I bought a size 0 but I think I will be needing a size 00 so I need to know which size is better for 1-11/2 foot rainbow trout in kern river thanks and happy fishing
I’ve caught plenty of tiny trout (4-6 inches) on size 0 Mepps spinners (as well as fish up to 15 inches or so), so the size 0 is definitely not too small. For foot long (or bigger) fish, size 1 or 2 would be fine.
On the other hand, the 1/2 ounce Kastmaster might be too heavy for the 4-6 pound line you’ll probably be using.
