What do the different 1911 grips do?

What do, or uses are different 1911 grips, I know smooth is good for carrying IWB, but does it offer a good grip, what is the tactical, where it is half smooth and half checkerd, i know that the more aggressive the rougher the grip.
I will be using these grips on a CCW. Yet I want them to look good. I have already tryed the Hogue figure groove grips, and wanna go another route.

Some people prefer different styles. The main reasons for different grips are comfort and aimability.

There’s also a certain element of style if you get the right kind of grips, and some people choose their style based purely on looks.

Also, smooth isn’t any better than checkered for IWB carry. The “checkering” (stippling, actually) does help with some people, especially those that has sweatier palms.

I still have the stock grips on my RIA 1911, if it helps any. I’d like to get something a little bit bigger, maybe something that makes it feel like a double stack, which fits my large hands better.
