4″ gulp bait with 1/8 jig hook?
I hook it in the mouth through the belly and I get a ton of hits. But the tail gets eaten up by most likely pinfish. Ive tried 2 piers and a couple of seawalls with the same results. The pinfish were every where I guess, is there another way to hook and reel gulps? Or do you have to out on a boat with this hot bait?
stop_makin_cents if your around to read this your idea with the spinner didnt work today. I hooked a pinfish on the spinner and my gulp tails were torn. if I had 2 poles I wouldve casted the pin but I was SoL.
If there is 1 complaint I have with Berkley “Gulp” it’s the “nuisance” small fry that “eat the tail off”! ARghhhhhh! (lol)
Here’s what I do:
1. Add a heavy-duty “jig-spinner” to your 1/8 jig. The spinner will spook the pinfish & attract the gamefish.
2. Hook it as far “back” as you can.
3. Use a “trailer-hook”.
