Leather ‘lace up (?)’ half gaiters – how do you fasten them up?
Just found an old pair of 1903 half leather ‘farmers’ gaiters in the attic, and in very good condition, but instead of buttons at the side to fasten them up, they just have a buckle at the top and leather laces threaded in a loop on one vertical side, that you ‘seem’ to thread through eyes on the other side of the gaiter, but they are not long enough to be tied together. Does anyone know how you fasten up this style of gaiter, as the knowledge seems to have passed out of my family?
