Does anyone else have a 17 yr old pointer?
Ours is! He was never a hunting dog, just our pet. He used to do a lot of tricks, but his arthritic hips won’t let him sit up anymore. He’s still happy and goes for walks and barks with delight when he eats his five meals a day (his digestion is bad because he was starving when we adopted him). Is it very unusual for a pointer to live so long?
Well, my I have a dog who will be 17 in July. She is not a pointer but is about the same size dog. 72 pounds or so. She has arthritis too but is still her same old silly self.
We have had other dogs live to over 15.
