I am replacing my bust 4×4 Ford front locking hubs. How do you get them off?
These suckers got mashed on one of my hairy 4×4 missions. My 4×4 front differential spins ok when actuated; however, the axles going into the wheel do not lock to the differential. The hubs around the axle appear mashed up with grease all over them. How do I remove and replace them? The hubs appear to hold the brake rotors on also, which I would like to resurface. Do I just get some big ol’ pliers like forceps on a pregnant woman and yank on the hubs?

Very clever, RB. But how do you get the hubs off?
The Rotors are held on by the entire assm. Your going to need allen wrenchs, and some snap ring pliers to do it properly. Best word of advise is to take one side apart and lay the parts out in the order that you take them out so you can put it all back together again.
Fun times ahead Doc. If the rotors are even questionable get new ones as well as new inner and outer bearings and races.
I’m glad I’m not you !
