Military Army
Do you have to become a soldier in the army to be a military nurse?

Being more specific, military/army nurses don’t have to do basic combat training do they? If not then what are the requirements besides getting your bachelors of science in nursing?
Thanks a lot.

If you wish to be a RN on active duty then you’ll have to obtain your BSN, apply with an AMEDD recruiter, get commissioned, attend Army Medical Branch Officer Basic Course, then you report to your duty station. During your OBC at Ft. Sam Houston you will fire and qualify with the standard M-4 service rifle and the M-9 Pistol. You will do very basic field exercises but nothing like attending Army Basic Training. My wife is about as girly girl princess as a woman can get and she had no issues with it at all. If you wish to ask more questions then feel free to email me and if I can’t answer them then I’ll pass them off to the wife for proper answers.
