Are Sylvania SilverStar headlights worth the money?
I own a 1996 Firebird. But driving at night, especially out in the country, the lights are not powerful enough. I have trouble seeing the road sometimes.
I want some super-bright headlamps/headlights. I am considering the Sylvania Silverstars. But I asked the fellow at PepBoys, and he did not recommend them. They will cost me $100 including installation.
Will these lights drain my battery much faster than normal headlamps?
Affordability is a concern for me. I don’t want to have to keep buying new headlamps or bulbs every six months. How long will they last (the SilverStars)?
If not SilverStars, could you recommend a very bright headlight choice for me? I don’t want the “blue” lights or anything- I just want some bright lights period, both on regular and high beam modes.
Thanks for your help!
Yes, they are worth the money. I have Silverstar Ultras, and they are awesome. They will not drain your battery. I previously had the regular Silverstars. Although they were brighter than the halogens that were on my car, one of the regular Silverstars burned out after about one year. But I have daytime running lights on my car, so yours would last longer. After researching Silverstar Ultras before buying them to replace the regular Silverstars, I saw that the Silverstar Ultras do last longer than the regular ones. And, they are significantly brighter. I had them on my car for about 6 months now, and I love them! I tried other brands like Philips, but the Silverstar Ultras are vastly superior. They are whiter and brighter. I believe there is also a nice rebate when you buy Silverstar Ultras. I am surprised Pep Boys did not recommend them. That’s where I bought mine, but I installed them myself. They are not difficult to install. You’ll save money if you install them yourself.
