Pike Spinner

Pike Spinner
northern pike river fishing Q’s?

okay so i fish at a river with a dam and i fish for smallmouths but since today i got only pikes and a giant 4 footer that took my lure at 5 yards out from right under a rock he came and swooped into my lure and choped my mono filiment line so i lost him, im now wondering what lures are most commonly used for pikes and were do i find pike? the ones i caught were from close to shore about 20 yards and closer and a bit further out and i was using inline spinners (sonic rooster tails) when i caught them so what lures catch them and what time of day and type of conditions would i catch them (barometric pressure, weather type conditions etc.) plus were do you find pikes in a river. funny how i fish largemouths then went to smallmouths then my run in with a giant northern made me interested in them.

If they are attacking your lure, I’d stay with what you using. I use a dark lure on over cast days and light lure on sunny days. You need to use a leader when fishing for snakes. Change speed when reeling.

Northern pike strikes twice and spits the spinner out!
