Power Bait

Power Bait
Has anyone had success with Berkley’s Trout Power Bait Orange or Pink?

I live in Kansas and I used Chartreuse Power bait dough and I caught a nice trout with it. However I’ve used orange and pink in the same areas and in almost all areas I can think off to fish and got NOTHIN! Any tips? Suggestions? Thoughts?

To be on the safe side, I carry all three. They are so inexpensive and easy to carry that settling for only one makes no sense to me at all. That way, I can go through the process of elimination and know within a very short time what their preferences are. Berkley’s Power Bait for trout is one of the most effective commercial baits out there. I have tried several of them and have yet to find one that works better than Berkley’s. I rarely go trout fishing without it. And when all else fails, it will be the last resort to at least catch a couple for the pan before I give it up for the day. My preference is for the floating variety, and I ball it up around a very small treble hook because it stays on better and the smaller hook is light enough that the bait will still lift it off the bottom and out of the rocks and weeds where the trout can see it easier. One of best dead baits here in Alaska for trout is the small hot-pink colored shrimp produced for the commercial bait dealers. They seem to work better than the natural colored shrimp you would get in the grocery store. Because of that, I lean toward the hot-pink Power Bait also. I have rarely seen a time when trout wouldn’t take at least one of the Power Bait colors, so they are a permanent part of my tackle selection and, in my impression, are VERY inexpensive insurance that assures my trout fishing success when my lures and other enticements just didn’t quite come up to my expectations.
