What is your favorite tactic for catching big trout.?
I’m not talking about catching just any trout, I’m talking if you see a big one you want to try for. I would use a rapala floating lure.
I like a gold and black rapala also but A rebel crawfish plug works well, a mouse imitation fly is good, and even small plastics like a 4 inch lizard .
If baitfishing for them a large salamander is my favorite , or a trout fly like a muddler minnow tipped with worm or caddisfly larva, even crawfish work good.
Its most important to try to catch the big ones at the right time , late evening is a good time ,or after a rain or during rain when the water is slightly off color is also good for big trout
