Rattle Bait

Rattle Bait
Are the mice in my apartment talking to each other?

I’ve been having problems with mice in my apartment. I put out traps, and they soon learned to eat the bait off the traps without springing the trap. I tried balancing the traps precariously on some object, so if they just touched the trap, it would spring. They soon learned to avoid the traps entirely.

Then they began raiding my garbage at night. I would be awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of them rattling around in my garbage. I would get up and when they heard me coming, they would dive to the bottom — a fatal mistake. I use clear plastic garbage bags, so I would just pick up the bag, tie the bag in a overhand knot, and smash their little heads in with a hammer.

Now when the mice hear me coming at night, instead of diving to the bottom of the garbage bag, they jump out and run for cover! How could they know to do this, unless they are talking to each other about what is going on?

Hmmm. Wolves communicate dangers and warnings to each other.

I saw a test done where 2 wolves were removed from a pack for a while and given the corpse of a sheep which would make them ill. They ate it and got sick. They were put back in with the rest of their pack and another 2 were taken from the pack and put in a penned off area with a sheep. The wolves acted in a distressed manner and would not touch the sheep.

Those are pretty smart mice. And yes, they do communicate.

Try sugar with caffeine tablets ground up in it. They’ll be exhausted when they finally get to sleep.

Mice don’t like Aluminium foil.

Get a Cat or a Jack Russell.
