Riser Bar

Riser Bar
what are the different uses for different handlebars?

example. riser, straight bar, bull horn or the drops.

Let me start with the drop down style handlebars… They put the rider in a more aerodynamic position to slice through the air. The less wind resistance, the faster the speeds.

Riser type handlebars put the rider in a more relaxed & upright sitting/riding position. Not nearly as fast – but much more comfortable.

Flat bars or those with only a slight rise are usually found on mountain bikes. This puts the rider in a more forward position than upright bars, able to accelerate quicker because the rider is leaning a bit more forward. Bull horns can be used or tilted however the rider wants them. Some extend them out in front of the bike for an even lower, more aerodynamic profile. Some place them upright to get a more relaxed riding position for short distances before they attack the course again.
