Salmon fishing season in the Pacific?
I’m wondering when the commercial salmon fishing season is in the Pacific. I eat a lot of salmon and want to stock pile some with concerns of the radiation leaking into the ocean from Japan. I refuse to eat salmon from the Atlantic because there it is only fish farmed.
Also, how long would it take from the time of capture to the time it is in a store in Ontario.
Thanks.
Generally it is fished all year long, I was a chef and worked for CP Hotels in the 1980′s in both Vancouver and Victoria BC, some wild salmon is sold in the grocery stores all over the province, I live in Toronto and for me I have had all the ones available, I prefer Atlantic, you can find some wild, but 90% is farmed, the radiation has not reached the fish stocks yet, the government is checking all the time, but with the dumping of all water from the reactor at Fukushima, it will slowly creep into the system over time, most is shipped with in 24-48 hours of landing and being processed on either coast.
