i have a 2002 gmc envoy that just blew the right front axle due to a dried up sealed bearing. Is this a defect
how do you maintain a sealed bearing?
Years ago replacement of front wheel bearings were rare. Design of present day bearings in my opinion are poor. The Envoy seems to have more than its fair share of failures in my shop. Its still a good idea to have your vehicle in for service regularly to prevent costly failures on the road. A good mechanic would have picked up on this long before your issue on the road.
You are unable to maintain this design of bearing other than to listen to noises and check periodically for looseness.
