Sexy Shad
What kind of fish did I have?

I was fishing in a gravel pit today, and i was trolling with a KVD sexy shad crankbait. I hit about 20 foot of water and within 4 minutes had something hooked. It fought like something ive never felt. It started off really sluggish like i was reeling in a log then it started like “hammering” like a hammering motion then it darter one way and another then it snapped 14 pound braid. What could it be? Here are the fish in the pond: Striper, White bass, largemouth bass, walleye, saugeye, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill, yellow perch, musky, lake sturgeon. Of these fish which do you think it would be? PS there are not very many lake sturgeon when me and my dad stocked the pond 20 years ago we only put 2 males in.

I’m thinking Channel Cat. I’ve caught plenty of these, and they hookup just like that. The Striper strikes hard, runs a bit and shakes it’s head then takes off running again. White Bass are always a hot fight, and never are “Log like”. Sturgeon pull like you snagged a submarine. They pull hard and run about 100 yards, then turn around and charge the boat. Sturgeon like to roll their body in the line too. You can eliminate Crappie, Bluegill, Yellow Perch and Musky. Doesn’t sound like a Largemouth Bass, they strike and run, as do Walleye.
