I have a busted chainring.?
I have a chainring that’s missing a tooth. It’s skipping like crazy! I’d like to get a replacement online (just because) and I’m having trouble finding the model. It’s a Shimano SLX model component set up. I got the SLX cranks, chainrings, etc. does anyone know were I can find that stuff online? Or maybe the compatible new model. I’d like to avoid updating the whole crank setup, it’s just a commuter bike.
theres no such thing. theres LX or STX. STX is decades old and you may not find something compatible, but i could be wrong. i think its a four bolt pattern, so look at cycle stores online for a replacement sprocket that has a 4-bolt pattern and matches the tooth profile. JensonUSA.com has several models to choose from. they range from $20 for a small ring to $60 for the large one. it may be cheaper to buy a new, more current set of cranks. for $65, you can get Deore cranks which are lighter and stronger than STX. jenson also carried these.
