What did I do wrong in my Trail Class at the horse show?
I was recently at a horse show and entered in the trail class. We passed over the bridge without a problem, did the gate, the poles, everything, and when they announced the results I discovered that I as well as 5 others were eliminated out of a class of 7. One girl passed. I asked the judge what I had done wrong and she told me it was the gate. It was a rope gate that tied to the left, and I ride with the reins in my right hand. I turned to the left and simply crossed my left hand over to hold the rope. The judge told me that this is why I was eliminated, and told me that what I should have done was switched hands. I tried to look this rule up on the internet but couldn’t find anything about that specifically. Does anyone know what the official ruling on this is?
Thanks for the help!
That’s kind of confusing.. because I was taught that you actually aren’t supposed to let go of the gate with the hand you opened it with, until the gate is closed.
Anyways.. I also want to thank you for your answer on my question about the snaffle bit..
You’re answer was VERY helpful, and you gave me the info I needed!
i think I’m going to pick Laura’s answer as best answer cause she stated something I really agree with.. lol but I haven’t decided yet! I might still pick your answer.
But yeah.. I just wanted to let you know how helpful you were! : )
