Why has the American political spectrum gone to the extreme?
We have had 8 years of George Bush, who is not a true Republican, and now we may be faced with Hillary Clinton as President. I don’t like either one of them. What are the alternatives?
We live in a time of great excess…stability and conservative (not the political meaning of the word) approaches just don’t appeal any longer. The candidates are all over the tv and internet, and they have so very many different sorts to please.
I would suggest that we would see far more credible candidates coming forward if they were merely expected to lead the country, rather than become iconic figures. Why would anyone sane agree to enter a race when it means your entire life is open to scrutiny by late night talk show hosts, 24 hour news channels and anyone who is interested in taking a shot? The expectations of what a leader needs to be today is badly messed up…therefore, so are the candidates. The United States will get the leader it deserves…whoever that might be…
