what size stirrup leathers/irons do i need?
Hello! I am about 5 feet tall (maybe a hair over, haha) and ride english. I just bought my first horse and I get her this weekend! (She is a young paint). I bought an inexpensive saddle but am open to opinions on another saddle that is not too pricy but comfy…. Thanks!
Thanks Horsejumper! She is 3 1/2 yrs old, and small only 14.2hh. She is sweet, does walk,trot, canter well. I have been riding my whole life and finally have my dreamhorse!
I think that one saddle for right now is fine! How old is she? It could be a good idea to get a used saddle. Try looking for ads in your local newspaper! Also a good way to figure out how long of stirrup leathers you need is to measure the length of your leg and add maybe 5 inches on to that! If your legs grow out of the leathers by a little bit you could always get a leather hole puncher and punch a hole in the leather to make it a bit longer! Good luck and have fun with your new horse! It is incredible walking your very first horse into her stall for the first time! I am positive you will have fun, polish muscle’s and get some new experience owning your horse!
