Telescopic Fishing Rod – When You Need To Pack Light This Is A Great Option

If you fished with some of the guys I fish with and mention the telescopic fishing rod you would probably get a few laughs.  Let’s face it, most serious fishermen are looking for high end, single piece rods.  What they don’t consider is the fact that not everyone requires that level of sophistication, and even some serious fishermen take trips that aren’t necessarily fishing-oriented. When you to pack light and be portable, the telescopic fishing rod is a great option.

These rods are generally inexpensive and provide a good quality option for the person looking to drop a line.  Most of the good telescopic fishing rod options are made of the same material that traditional fishing rods are made of.  Graphite and fiberglass are very common materials.  The rods are comprised of sections that have progressively larger diameter from the tip to the butt to allow one section to collapse into another so the rod can be folded much like a radio antenna.  The rods have special eyes at the tip of each section that provide stability and holding strength when the rod is fully extended.

The telescopic fishing rod is actually a very popular option for surf fishermen and campers and hikers who find themselves in remote areas where packing long rods would be impractical.  On a canoe trip through the boundary waters of Northeast Minnesota I find that the telescopic rod carries easy and performs great for the fishing situations.

If you travel quite a bit and want something that will stow away easy in the truck, or ir you are planning a camping trip or hike where the long gear needs to stay home, the telescopic fishing rod is definitely a viable option for getting a line wet when that opportunity presents itself.
