Does teaching a horse to jump ruin it’s slower gate for western pleasure?
I have a professionally trained western pleasure quarter horse, and I really want to try out jumping, but I’m afraid it will ruin her gate for western pleasure. Advice?
no, you control her speed through seat and collection. you just have to practice walk, jog, trot, lope, canter, hand gallop. what ever order or combination you want to do is up to you. there are no limits to what you can do with your horse. you just have to practice, practice, practice. i recommend keeping his slow jog and lope incorporated into your normal routine like for part of his warm up.
